Part 1 of the Don't Retire. Rewire. series.

There's a story the world likes to tell about people like me. You've been in banking for decades, you're approaching the end of your career, and the sensible move is to wind down gracefully while the machines take it from here. I have a different plan: I'm rewiring.

This could be the boldest chapter of my career — not despite my experience, but because of it. Decades in banking aren't obsolete code to be retired. They're context no model can download. I've seen credit cycles turn, watched technologies arrive with fanfare and leave quietly, and learned which instincts hold up under pressure. That context is exactly what makes AI useful: I know which questions matter, which answers smell wrong, and where judgment has to step in.

The rewiring isn't about learning to code or competing with engineers. It's about asking better leadership questions — the kind that connect what AI can do with what banking actually needs. Curiosity is the new competency, and experience is the amplifier.

Join me for this five-part series as I work through what it means to lead — not retire — in the age of AI.
