You have 90 days to get excited again.
Part 5 of the Don't Retire. Rewire. series.

Everything in this series comes down to one question: what will you do about it? Here's my answer — a 90-day action plan to get excited about your career again. Not a transformation program. A rewiring.
Days 1–30: Get fluent. Pick one AI tool and use it every single workday. Draft memos with it, summarize long documents, brainstorm client strategies. Keep a simple log: what worked, what failed, what surprised you. Fluency is a habit, not a course.
Days 31–60: Get brave. Give AI a real job — first-pass research for a board deck, a draft of that policy update you've been postponing. Present the output to one trusted colleague and invite them to tear it apart with you. You are building your challenge muscle: if it can't take scrutiny, it doesn't get to decide.
Days 61–90: Get visible. Share what you've learned with your team. Mentor one colleague who is further behind than you. Write down your own AI principles — the three rules you'll never break. Leaders who learn out loud give everyone else permission to start.
Tools to try: a conversational AI assistant for drafting and thinking, a meeting summarizer so you never lose the thread, and your bank's own approved AI tools — start with what's sanctioned, then expand your lab.
Ninety days from now, you won't be an AI expert. You'll be something better: a banker with judgment, curiosity, and momentum. The industry doesn't need you to retire. It needs you rewired.
This concludes the Don't Retire. Rewire. series. Thank you for reading — and for refusing to wind down.
